The Polynesians were the best sailors in the world. Thousands of years ago, their pilots, the Tautai, navigated their boats through the endless water deserts of the Pacific, settled on widely scattered islands, and developed traditions and culture over thousands of nautical miles.
The Tautai understood that their only stability came from constant adaptation.

I came across the Tautai metaphor some time ago and it immediately fascinated me. It connects everything that moves me: it is the radical adaptivity that allows them to survive and thrive in this environment.
